Our favorite Baby Registry additions
When I was pregnant, I was slightly overwhelmed with all of the options and products to look at for our first child. A few things we prioritize and value as a family are minimizing our toxic load and only getting or purchasing items we will use.
With those things in mind--my husband and I researched so many products and luckily for me, I was able to ask so many moms what their favorite products were, what they wish they had gotten, or wish they left off the registry!
So, below are some of our favorite, most used items we registered for, or got after having Kennedy and realized were super helpful!
1. Nuna Pipa Car Seat and Mockingbird stroller (with car seat adapter). We LOVE our stroller walks. Getting outside, and getting moving has been so essential and helpful in enjoying postpartum. We got all of the attachments for our mockingbird stroller and have loved being able to quickly and easily unload it, attach her car seat, and get outside or get in a store. We even found both super easy to bring through the airport!
2. Night/Sleeper gowns. So many diaper changes at night, especially in the newborn phase--these were SO helpful. I loved just being able to move it up, change her diaper, and get her back down to sleep. We only had one when Kennedy was first born, that we ordered one-day on Amazon to get more of the Carter's gowns!
3. 2-way zipper footies -- how did our parents live without this invention??? If I could only buy one type of footie pajama, a two way zipper one would be it. Our top favorite brand has been the cloud island at Target. Super soft, stretch easily, and made of more low-tox ingredients (to the best of my knowledge).
4. Weleda Baby products. We LOVE the Weleda baby line. It was gifted to us by one of my lovely patients, and I will never use anything else. If Kennedy is dealing with some redness from diaper changes, we add the diaper cream on and within hours it is typically gone! Their baby shampoo/all-in-one and cream are also amazing and smell fantastic! I feel great about using this product too.
5. Breast Pumps - I have the Spectra S2 and the Elvie Stride. I love both! The Spectra was so great for the beginning to increase my supply, and help produce milk for Kennedy's bottles, while we were pumping and breastfeeding. I also love the Elvie for its ability to work well while I'm adjusting patients (YES, I can wear it while adjusting!). Pro tip: set up a session with an IBCLC prenatally (most insurances will cover), and get their recommendations, and then order extra flanges/pump parts once you have baby. It's tedious to wash everything, but having an extra set can be super helpful and has saved me many of times!
6. the MABE carrier. At first, Kennedy wasn't the biggest fan of being in the carrier, but now, she is LOVING it. I also love the MABE because it provides great lumbar and upper back support, is super comfy, and is adjustable for her size. My husband and sister have also used it and say the same! I think it's a great carrier for the price point especially.
7. Keekaroo changing pad. I love this changing pad as it is easy to wipe down and does not slide at all! We have this one at home and love it.
8. Babyletto Nursery Recliner. Definitely a splurge item but 100000% worth it. We also were able to find the exact one I wanted used from a wonderful local family on FB marketplace. I love that it automatically reclines, rocks well and has great support. It is so comfortable to sit in, nap in, and nurse in. I've loved it so much that I actually found one for Kennedy's space in my office on FB marketplace too!
